UCG Technologies was built on the belief that combining state-of-the-art technology with an obsessive commitment to exceeding customer expectations would support a sustainable and growing business. More than three decades later, we still embrace those principles. With a 98 percent customer renewal rate, we believe our clients agree.
UCG was founded in December 1987 by Jim Kandrac as United Computer Group, Inc. (UCG), to provide hardware and leasing services for midrange computer equipment. (IBM AS/400)
Over the years UCG has grown organically by reinvesting and listening closely to our customers. Thanks to valuable client input, UCG expanded into IBM i Cloud Backup & DRaaS, high-availability (H/A), and security training and services. In addition to IBM’s high-performance Power Systems product line, our VAULT400 cloud backup and DRaaS and H/A solutions protect platforms ranging in size from 10GB to more than 100TB through cloud, hybrid cloud, and private cloud configurations, with recovery options of as little as one hour, depending upon client requirements.
In 2018 UCG announced the rollout of two new services: UCG IBM i Hosting and VAULT400 for IBM BRMS Users. UCG IBM i hosting provides cloud options for clients wanting their infrastructure off-site while VAULT400 for BRMS provides a cloud backup option for clients that want to leverage IBM BRMS. Both of these offerings build upon our strong suite of solutions for the IBM i platform.

Focal Point Solutions Group, LLC Acquires UCG Technologies
In December 2021, UCG Technologies was acquired by Focal Point Solutions Group (FPSG), a full-service provider of managed IT services and cloud hosting to enterprise clients.
Now part of the FPSG family of companies under the leadership of Ron Venzin, CEO, UCG is well-positioned to continue delivering best-in-class managed IT and disaster recovery services and broaden its suite of offerings to meet the evolving needs of our clients. In particular, we are excited about FPSG’s full-service cloud capabilities and opportunities to discuss production hosting with our clients. Jim Kandrac worked closely with Ron Venzin to coordinate and collaborate across our talented and experienced technical teams and ensure smooth and seamless continuity for our customers.
