UCG Technologies was founded on the belief that combining state-of-the-art technology with obsessive commitment to exceeding customer expectations would support a sustainable and growing business. More than 30 years later, we still embrace those principles. With a 98 percent customer renewal rate, we believe our clients agree.
UCG Technologies was founded in December 1987 as United Computer Group, Inc. (UCG), to provide hardware and leasing services for midrange computer equipment. (IBM AS/400)
Founder Jim Kandrac, who launched the company when he was just 26, put everything he had into the business. Over the years UCG has grown organically by reinvesting and listening closely to our customers. UCG has never been bought, sold, merged with another company, sought or received outside investment.
Thanks to valuable client input, UCG has expanded into IBM i Cloud Backup & DRaaS, high-availability (H/A), and security training and services. In addition to IBM’s high-performance Power Systems product line, our VAULT400 cloud backup and DRaaS and H/A solutions protect platforms ranging in size from 10GB to more than 100TB through cloud, hybrid cloud, and private cloud configurations, with recovery options of as little as one hour, depending upon client requirements.
UCG’s clients know that their mission-critical information is available for immediate recovery 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our partnerships with 22 data centers across the US and Canada ensure that they are never far from the lifeblood of their businesses. UCG’s VAULT 400 Cloud Backup & DRaaS is featured in IBM’s Global Solutions Directory.
In 2018 UCG Technologies acquired Contract Guardian Inc., a leader in automated contract management, along with its intellectual property. It is a natural fit because it plays in markets that we see as increasing: healthcare, SaaS, cloud, HIPAA compliance, and contract management.
Also in 2018 we announced the rollout of two new services: UCG IBM i Hosting and VAULT400 for IBM BRMS Users. UCG IBM i hosting provides a cloud options for clients wanting their infrastructure off-site while VAULT400 for BRMS provides a cloud backup option for clients that want to leverage IBM BRMS. Both of these offerings build upon our strong suite of solutions for the IBM i platform.
From our humble beginnings as a value-added reseller, UCG has evolved into a full-service data protection company, with corporate clients in 44 states, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe and Latin America. Our business continues to grow at a controlled rate of 20% + per year. We see ourselves as partners in helping customers focus on the success of their businesses without worrying about disruption to their operations. One thing that will never change is our obsessive commitment to their satisfaction.
An IBM Business Partner since 1987, UCG is one of the largest independent IBM i business partners and has been rated in the top 1% of IBM business partners globally.
We’re proud of the many compliments our customers have shared with us. Their success is what keeps us excited about coming to work every day.
We’re standing on the threshold of the greatest advances in computing since the invention of the microprocessor. IBM expects half of all software applications developed three years from now to have “cognitive” capabilities, or the ability to reason, learn, discover and advise. The potential for us to apply cognitive reasoning to make our customers’ enterprise operations and applications more intelligent is thrilling.
Big data, cloud computing, predictive analytics, machine learning, and the Internet of Things will change our world in ways we can only imagine today. UCG Technologies is committed to helping to guide our customers toward decisions that have the greatest bottom-line impact.
UCG believes in giving back. Among the organizations UCG supports on behalf of our team, clients and vendors are:
Since 2011, CEO Jim Kandrac has annually mentored high school students in Brecksville, OH on the feasibility of their STEM Business Plans in conjunction with The Entrepreneurial Engagement Ohio (Believe in Ohio) program, which awards college scholarships to the best plans created by students.
